Our gallery provides a variety of Venn diagrams for whole-genome orthologous gene comparisons and annotations across multiple species.
OrthoVenn works the best on browsers like Firefox 22+, Chrome 29+, Safari5.1+, Opera12+ and IE10+. Please report any compatibility issues to the developer.
Users who are visiting our website for the first time can follow the instructions below.
1. Users can select up to six species for their OrhtoVenn analysis. OrthoVenn provides comprehensive coverage of vertebrates, metazoa, protists, fungi, plants and bacteria for identifying orthologous gene clusters and supports user-defined species through the upload of customized protein sequences. The customized protein sequence file must be in fasta format.
2. Choose Parameters of OrthoVenn. There are only two parameters: one is the E-value cutoff for all-to-all protein similarity comparisons, the other is the Inflation value for the generation of orthologous clusters using the Markov Cluster Algorithm.
3. Start Annotation. Pressing the submit button starts your analysis. You will get your a link to your job while the website is running OrthoVenn You can save the link and reload it manually. Once the job has finished, the results page will be automatically loaded. The results will be kept in the server for 15 days. If you input your email address, the server will send a result to your results when the job is finished.
1. OrthoVenn uses the jvenn tool for visualizing and manipulating graphs of the overlapping orthologous gene clusters across multiple species. The Venn diagram shows the distribution of shared gene families among selected species, and be either drawn classic Venn diagram or Edwards-Venn diagram. OrthoVenn also provides a statistic chart and table based on input data. The color for each species in the Venn diagram can be changed by the color selector, and the Venn diagram can be saved as one of serval image formats, such as CSV and PNG.
2. Clicking the number in the Venn diagram will show the clusters in the overlapping region.
3. Clicking the cluster link. The annotation page for the cluster will be displayed, including the protein cluster network and protein cluster relationships.
4. In the Venn diagram result spage, users can search the annotated clusters with key words and BLAST.
5. In the Venn diagram results page, clicking the number next to single-copy gene cluster will show all the one-to-one ortholog clusters in the selected species.
