The walnut is the nut of any tree of the genus Juglans (Family Juglandaceae), particularly the Persian or English walnut, Juglans regia. Here we published pseudomoles of a hybrid of culitivated walnut, Juglans regia, native to Asia, and wild J. microcarpa, native to riparian areas of Texas and New Mexico. The latter has small nuts, indehiscent hulls, and a shrubby growth habit. Both species are wind-pollinated, highly heterozygous, and intolerant of inbreeding. No haploid exists for either of them. Both genomes are about 600 Mb with n=16.
